The frustration continues to build for people in Pleasant Hill.
Residents of the area are adding Thursday morning’s shooting to the long, growing list of crimes they see every day on Avenue V South.
“We see a lot of everything, from domestic violence to gang violence to prostitution,” said one woman who declined to give her name.
The victim came out of a boarded-up home, leaving a trail of blood on the street.
“The city needs to take some action on this street with some landlords that are not what I would consider very good landlords,” said another neighbour, who also wanted to remain anonymous.
Police said Thursday afternoon that they were having trouble getting information on the shooting because the victim was not co-operating with police.
“There’s a gang mentality (in the neighbourhood),” said one of the area’s residents. “If you wear the wrong colours in this area, you will get approached. Red and black and white are the main ones that are going at it right now.”
Police said the victim’s injures are considered “non-life-threatening.”
