Saskatoon police have charged a 35-year-old man in connection with an incident at an apartment near Lawson Heights Mall on Monday afternoon.
Officers responded to a call about people being held against their wills around 3:45 p.m. at an apartment on the 100 block of Saint Lawrence Court.
In a media release, police said two people managed to get out before officers arrived.
According to police, a man and woman inside the apartment had an argument and the man wouldn’t let the woman leave. Tenants told officers at the scene that when they tried to intervene, the man threatened them with a knife.
Police and the tactical support unit set up a perimeter as a precaution. Eventually, the man was arrested.
Officers described him as being extremely aggressive and possibly intoxicated at the time.
The 35-year-old is charged with possession of cocaine and breach of an undertaking, and a charge of unlawful confinement is pending.
No one was hurt in the incident.
