A large brush fire just south of Saskatoon sent plumes of smoke into the air and forced firefighters to battle the flames to protect at least one home on Tuesday.

Fire crews responded to reports of the blaze around 2 p.m. in the Riverside Estates area, approximately five kilometres south of Saskatoon.
When they arrived, firefighters found flames as high as five feet in a fielded area close to a home in the hamlet.

Wind was pushing the fire south towards Cranberry Flats as more water trucks and fire units arrived on the scene.

As of 4 p.m., emergency services had shut down Range Road 3055 as they battled the flames.
