After just over five months on strike, Saskatoon Co-op employees could soon be returning to work.
Members of United Food and Commercial Workers Local 1400 are scheduled to vote tomorrow on a deal reached between union negotiators and management over the weekend.
Representatives of both the company and the union declined to disclose terms of the tentative deal.
“Im glad that we have this meeting and this chance to vote. I mean, any chance to settle this amicably between both parties is a good thing,” Strike captain Robert Sawkew said Monday outside of the Attridge Co-op store.
The work stoppage began November 1, with the union going on strike over a management plan to hire on new employees on a new, lower pay scale.
The tentative agreement was reached early Sunday morning with the help of a mediator.
