A CN train derailed Tuesday morning at a rail crossing at Highway 11 and Wanuskewin Road, sending rail cars careening into each other and causing commuter headaches all day.
The Saskatoon Fire Department first received calls about the derailment at 9:26 a.m. and traffic in the area was immediately blocked off.
In a media release, the fire department confirmed the 52-car long train was carrying grain and crews dealt with a fire involving one locomotive which was leaking diesel fuel.
In total 30 rail cars left the tracks.
A video posted on the Saskatchewan Afternoon with David Kirton Facebook page shows the derailment just moments after it happened.
Glad to hear the crew is ok. This was the remote unit, no crew members occupying it and it derailed infront of it. Just a reminder to not park close at crossing. Not sure the cause yet, and it was grain cars, no dangerous cars.

Clean-up began shortly after 11 a.m., with partial traffic flow due to be restored later in the day Tuesday.
Drivers were advised to detour around the area using Highway 305 and Highway 12.
