Cameco and Brainsport have partnered for a new race along the South Saskatchewan River.
On Monday TSN broadcaster Michael Lansberg was on hand to help announce the first Step Up for Mental Health event.
Lansberg, who’s very open about his own battle with mental health, said it’s about tackling stigma.
“They need to understand that they’re sick and not weak,” he said about people struggling with their mental health. “They need to lose the shame and embarrassment and go for help.”
The five kilometre and 10 km run is set for May 11, 2019 along the river valley.
It will end with a concert at the Delta Bessborough Gardens.
“This is for your community,” Lansberg said. “This is for your neighbour, and your son and your daughter.”
Cameco will match money raised through entry fees.
The money will support the Cameco Fund for Mental Health through the Saskatoon Community Foundation.
