A popular attraction is coming back to brighten up the dead of winter on Saskatoon’s Broadway Avenue.
Work will begin this weekend to install a crokicurl rink near the Broadway Roastery coffee shop.
The game, first introduced in Winnipeg, combines curling and crokinole.
Broadway Business Improvement District executive director DeeAnn Mercier said it’s a great way to get people to embrace the embrace the season.
“It’s a free, outdoor, fun activity. Especially in months where it can be a little slower in local business areas.”
She said the game’s debut on Broadway last winter was a hit.
“Lots of people mentioned to me that it had been the first time they’d ever thrown a curling rock. So it was kind of fun to be there, to see people experience that for the first time.”
The Broadway crokicurl rink will open Jan. 24.
