It should come as no surprise that Chris Jones’ extension as GM and head coach of the Saskatchewan Roughriders has drawn a reaction. Some good, some bad. (Everything of this magnitude draws a reaction here in Riderville.)
Jones inherited a Rider team for the 2016 season that had a 3-15 record the year before. Jones supporters can point to the regular season wins in his three years here. The team went from five, to 10, to 12 regular season wins in his three years in Saskatchewan.
Detractors can point to the postseason. The Riders have a 1-2 playoff record with Jones in complete control of this franchise and it could be argued they haven’t been close to a Grey Cup.
In the RedBlacks first three years of existence, Ottawa went to two Grey Cup games and won one.
2019 brings big pressure. If there is no Grey Cup appearance, then there shouldn’t be a 2020 for Jones in Saskatchewan.
