A Winnipeg woman is facing criminal charges after she ripped the door mirror off an SUV in a Saskatoon drive-thru. When speaking to police, she blamed the incident on holiday stress.
The Boxing Day road rage happened in a drive-thru lineup at the corner of Eighth Street and Cumberland Avenue. The driver of the SUV told officers he pulled into line in front of the woman, and in response she approached his vehicle and attacked the door mirror while shouting threats. She then got back into her own vehicle and left, though police caught up with her shortly afterwards at a different location.
“She explained to officers that she was having just a very stressful time, and used the word ‘snapped,’” a police spokesperson told 650 CKOM.
The woman is now facing charges of mischief and uttering threats, the spokesperson said.
The police service wrote a humourous Tweet about the incident, using the hashtags “HolidayStress” and “Peace on earth.”
