Rams prepare for Mitchell Cup showdown against Laval

The Rams play the Laval Rouge et Or in the Mitchell Bowl Saturday for a spot in the 2024 Vanier Cup.
Slippery roads caused a close call for a city transit bus Friday.
The city says the bus was making a turn from Wedge Road when it skidded onto the front lawn of a home on Latrace Road.
Homeowner Holly Parent said it happened around 7:15 a.m. Friday, just as she was trying to fall back to sleep.
“I heard a huge bang and (it) scared the crap out of me,” she said.
Parent said the noise was so loud she didn’t immediately think it could have been caused by a vehicle.
“We have a tree in the backyard that’s the biggest one on the block , I think, and I thought that fell on the house at first,” she said.
After a quick check of her backyard, Parent came out front to find the bus had slid up onto her lawn, striking a steel planter made out of a tractor tire rim, then colliding with her front steps.
Parent said as far as she could tell, it appeared the damage was confined to just the steps.
“We’re going to get the foundation checked too, because it sure shook,” she said

According to the city, neither the bus driver or the lone passenger suffered any injuries.
