Police arrest 3 people on warrants while investigating theft

Police tracking a smash and grab suspect Tuesday morning ended up finding three people with outstanding warrants.

Around 5:30 a.m. police responded to Avenue B S. and 19th Street W. after someone smashed the window of a parked truck and stole a backpack and Ipad from inside.

The canine unit helped lead officers to a home on the 300 block of Avenue E S.

Officers found the Ipad and backpack inside but didn’t have enough evidence to arrest any of the eight people inside.

But two 22-year-old women and a 45-year-old man on outstanding warrants were found at the residence.

Now police are out with a reminder for drivers to take all their valuables out of vehicles and to keep items out of sight.
