Odell Willis and Jackson Jeffcoat are in the crosshairs in Saskatchewan. Public enemy number one and two.
I am a big Randy Ambrosie supporter. He is being criticized by Saskatchewan’s fans for the head shots taken by Zach Collaros and Brandon Bridge.
The CFL commissioner has said the league needs to do more than admit error, but also search for a solution. He’s right. Such hits need to be caught and flagged even if it means video review.
However, it is important to understand that even if a penalty is called, it only minimizes the chances of such hits being delivered in the future. A penalty won’t eliminate one players helmet making contact with another in every football game going forward.
It is hard to believe that two Rider quarterbacks have been on the wrong end of such hits, but fans have to be realistic in their expectations. There is no way to guarantee such hits won’t happen again in a high-speed contact sport such as football.
