Recreational marijuana became legal in Canada on Wednesday. On Saturday, Saskatoon police wrote up their first Cannabis Control Act ticket.
A tweet from police said a woman was given a $360 ticket for smoking pot inside a vehicle.
“Well that didn’t take long,” the tweet said before detailing the situation.
Well that didn’t take long. A woman was issued a $360 ticket under the Cannabis Control (SK) Act early this morning after an @SPSTraffic member observed her consuming cannabis in a vehicle (as a passenger). Some people must not have believed us when we said that wasn’t legal #yxe

A member of the traffic unit spotted her smoking in the passenger seat Saturday morning.
The driver did not face any charges or fines.
