Metallica is set to take the stage at SaskTel Centre Saturday night in front of more than 16,000 fans.
“This Metallica concert is the single largest attended event in the history of SaskTel Centre,” SaskTel Centre Executive Director Scott Ford said.
It beats the current record holder, Garth Brooks, by about 700 tickets.
With so many people expected at the concert, Ford said it’s important to show up early.
“Starting at 4:30 we actually have a pre-party area that we’re setting up in front of the building,” he said.
The pre-party will have a beer garden, food truck and merchandise for sale similar to the celebration before Saskatchewan Rush games.
To avoid long traffic back-up to get into the venue Ford suggests carpooling or taking public transit.
Saskatoon Transit will start picking up riders at the Downtown Special Event Stop in front of 2nd Avenue Lofts at 4 p.m.
A park and ride service is also available from malls around the city.
Ford says ultimately it’s all about fun.
“The reviews on the show have been over the top and I think the fans are going to have a great time.”
