Fact: Just 28% of the points that the Riders have scored during this four game win streak have come from touchdowns.
That statistic is a little dramatic.
The offense has put Brett Lauther in position for 48 points (16 field goals) in the four games. Throw in touchdowns and field goals and that accounts for 70% of points scored since August 19th.
The touchdown numbers will have to go up in the next seven games if the Riders hope to maintain second spot and host a home playoff game.
I believe that the pick sixes and TD’s from kick returns will be a little less frequent as we move into the fall.
It’s always more of a challenge to get interceptions and cash in on special team returns in cold weather games.
I know that there is an old saying “it’s not how, it’s how many, ” but, more offensive majors will be needed down the stretch for this team to take a run at a Grey Cup.
