A former Saskatoon resident has launched a fundraising effort as she tries to cope with the loss of her husband on Vancouver Island.Born and raised in Saskatoon, Randa Seidel met Jonathan Roadhouse over 10 years ago when the two were working at West Coast Amusements.Seidel’s husband Jonathan was killed last Wednesday when his work truck was involved in a crash in Malahat, B.C. The cause is under investigation. The couple had just moved to Nanaimo in January 2017 for work. The day Jonathan died, their daughter Hazel turned two months old.Prior to giving birth, Randa Seidel was self-employed, so she doesn’t qualify for maternity leave benefits.Seidel’s sister, Jennifer Kurucz, started a GoFundMe page almost immediately upon learning of her brother’s death.Money raised will go toward a trust to help with living expenses. The GoFundMe page has already raised more than $40,000.
