A 31-year-old man was tasered by police early Monday morning after he attempted to take an officer’s gun.
Saskatoon police say a man was being transferred to another cell in their detention facility around midnight, when he lunged at an officer and attempted to take their firearm.
According to the Tuesday release, a “brief altercation” ensued and a second officer used their taser to subdue the man.
He was placed in handcuffs and taken to hospital as a precaution, while the officers weren’t injured.
A 31-year-old man is charged with assaulting an officer and attempting to disarm an officer.
Police said the taser use would be reviewed.
