Losses usually bring out the vocal side of Rider Nation.
From where I sit, the tone appears to be different following Saskatchewan’s 26-19 loss to Edmonton on Thursday night.
There were some disheartening events in this defeat. There was a pregame roster error which left the Riders a player short.
With the game on the line, a coverage issue led to a huge 46-yard play down field with three minutes left to go in the football game. On more than one occasion Saskatchewan’s short yardage team came up, well, short.
There are positives that outweigh negatives.
The return of Zach Collaros means this team can stretch a defence more. Duron Carter’s return to the offence may give Saskatchewan more big play capability. Four different defenders got to one of the most dangerous quarterbacks in the league in Mike Reilly.
The Riders now have confidence, and get to rest, ahead of another clash with the best team in the CFL on Aug. 19.
