As the Riders prepare for six straight games against western opponents, we can ask this question:
What has to be better?
The obvious answer is the starting quarterback has to get better… from injury.
With Zach Collaros under centre, Saskatchewan’s chances of winning divisional battles greatly improves.
Beyond that, I would say consistency. Saskatchewan’s offensive line was very impressive in the fourth quarter last Thursday when the team was running out the clock against the Tiger-Cats. When the offensive line imposes its will, and Jerome Messam chews up yards, this team is tough to stop.
It is the type of effort from the offensive line that will have be there week in, week out, starting Saturday against the Stampeders. Let’s be honest. Pass protection and run blocking hasn’t always been great this season.
Success will come down to not only making plays, but having the offense stay on the field during this western stretch.
That starts with the men up front.
