Police say a 24-year-old Saskatoon man claimed to work at a restaurant where he then allegedly stole another employee’s wallet and car Monday night.
According to police, a man entered a fast food restaurant in the 800 block of Broadway Avenue around 8:20 p.m. falsely identifying himself as an employee.
After allegedly stealing another worker’s wallet and keys, the man fled in their white Honda Civic.
Saskatoon police said officers spotted the car a little while later and tried to stop the driver near the intersection of 17th Street West and Avenue U South.
But the driver sped off, and police later located the abandoned car in the 100 block of Avenue V South.
The suspect was then found in the yard of a home in the 300 block of Avenue W South where police say he was taken into custody without incident.
A 24-year-old man faces charges of theft, evading police and breach of probation.
