Traffic restrictions were put in place Wednesday afternoon as police dealt with a 46-year-old man barricaded inside a home on the 1500 block of Hilliard Street East.
In a media release, police said the man was the suspect in two incidents Wednesday morning involving city equipment.
Around 7:30 a.m., police responded to a call about a man throwing a molotov cocktail at a city grader, then further damaging the machine using a baseball bat.
The grader operator got away safely and the suspect reportedly ran away.
Soon after, a man matching the suspect’s description allegedly tried to interfere with a street sweeper as it cleared debris from the incident with the grader.
Attempts to take the man into custody failed.
Police said they found the man barricaded in his home at 3 p.m.
The police tactical support unit, crisis negotiators, canine unit and patrol officers were on scene along with the Saskatoon Fire Department.
Police reported the man was arrested at 11 p.m., with emergency workers leaving the scene and traffic restrictions lifted shortly afterwards.
