A 21-year-old man is accused of being high on drugs and deliberately backing into a Saskatoon police car Monday morning.
According to police, at around 11 a.m., an officer saw a vehicle heading east on 8th Street pull a u-turn at the traffic light-controlled intersection at Louise Street.
When the officer signalled the driver to pull over, he allegedly sped off quickly — then pulled into a nearby parking lot.
With the cruiser lights flashing, the officer pulled up behind the suspect, at which point the driver reversed into the patrol car.
Damage was minimal and there were no injuries.
Police said the driver was arrested without further incident and a drug evaluation test was performed.
The 21-year-old is now charged with driving impaired by drugs, along with a count of possessing marijuana.
He also had unrelated warrants for his arrest for trafficking marijuana.
He will be held and appear in Saskatoon Provincial Court Tuesday morning.
