One of a trio of accused in a tainted drug case linked to three deaths in Saskatoon was granted bail Wed.
Details of a bail hearing held for Azam Kabani, 19, of Burnaby, B.C. are subject to a publication ban.
He faces drug trafficking and weapons charges stemming from a Mar. 11 police raid on a southeast Saskatoon home.
Police searched the home following an investigation into three overdose calls received in the span of about three hours on the morning of Mar. 10.
A total of six people overdosed after reportedly consuming cocaine laced with fentanyl, a powerful opiate. A man and a woman died Mar. 10. A third victim died Mar. 14 in hospital.
Kabani was granted $7,500 bail under conditions that he live with his father in B.C. and be subject to a 10 p.m. curfew. He is not allowed to use a smartphone and was required to give up his passport. He is barred from returning to Saskatchewan save for court appearances. His next court date is on April 30.
Kabani was also ordered not to have any contact with his two co-accused: Shervin Dass Beeharry, 19, and Japmanjot Grewal, 21.
Beeharry is scheduled for a bail hearing Thursday afternoon in Saskatoon Provincial Court.
Grewal is due back in court Mar. 28.
