Another Co-Op liquor store is coming to Saskatoon.
Federated Co-Operatives Ltd. announced Friday it would open its second Saskatoon location in the Meadows Market development in Rosewood.
The 10,000-square foot store will be the same size as the company’s first location, opened in 2014 in Blairmore.
Meadows Market is anchored by a Costco store that opened in November 2016.
A Marshalls store is due to open in the area this fall, along with McDonald’s, Visions Electronics and Scotiabank locations.
Federated Co-Operatives was originally shut out of Saskatoon and Regina when the province announced the award of 50 new liquor retail licenses in November 2016.
A spokesperson for the Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming Authority said Co-Op picked up the license for its new store in Saskatoon after Liquor Stores North America, operator of the Liquor Depot chain of stores in Alberta and B.C., withdrew its bid in August 2017. Co-Op had been the runner-up in the bid process.
The new Co-Op liquor store is expected to open in late 2018.
Between its network of rural franchises and urban stores, Co-Op currently operates 49 liquor outlets in Saskatchewan.
