A quick-thinking bystander helped save a Saskatoon woman over the weekend.
Police said the 28-year-old woman was walking her dogs along the south side of the river near the new Commuter Bridge Sunday afternoon.
The dogs reportedly chased some birds out onto the ice before falling through. The woman went out onto the ice in an effort to save her pets, then fell through herself.
Police said a passerby saw the situation and was able to save the woman by using a stick to pull her to safety.
The woman was taken to St. Paul’s hospital to be treated for hypothermia.
Neither of the dogs was injured.
