A former Waskesiu Chamber of Commerce manager has been charged with fraud after being arrested last week.
RCMP said in a release Tuesday that 66-year-old George Wilson of Prince Albert had been charged with fraud over $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime and theft over $5,000.
Police said the charges stem from a two-year investigation of incidents that ocurred between 2008 and 2015, while the man was in a “position of financial authority” with a Waskesiu-area organization.
In an emailed statement to 650 CKOM, a spokesperson said Wilson’s seasonal employment with the Waskesiu Chamber ended in 2015. The statement went on to say that the organization would continue assisting police with the investigation.
Wilson was arrested by Prince Albert police and formally charged on Jan. 4.
He is due to appear in court on Feb. 15.
