Like millions of other people across North America, Saskatoon’s Brett Boyko was in transit Friday — but he’s not heading home for Christmas.
He’s heading to New York with his NFL football team, the LA Chargers.
“I’m more than excited. This is where I want to be. These are the guys I want to be around. I love my teammates,” Boyko told The Brent Loucks Show Friday.
The Saskatoon-born football player was added to the LA Charger’s active roster this week. He’s hoping he gets a chance to play in Sunday’s game.
He also took the time to give advice to other aspiring athletes.
“Keep working hard. There there’s a lot of timing factors and there’s things that play into the business side of things. A lot of times it’s just keep working hard and your shot will come.”
For those who are watching the game at home, Boyko said he will be wearing his favourite number 67.
There are five other Saskatchewan born players who’ve made it to the NFL: Arnie Weinmeister, Ruben Mayes, Jon Ryan, Ray Hare and Brett Jones.
