A 27-year-old man is wanted by police after he reportedly escaped from custody after violating conditions of a temporary absence from the Saskatoon Correctional Centre.
William John Keewatin was serving 236 days for breaching a conditional sentence order. He had been living in the community since Nov. 29 as part of a temporary absence from the correctional centre.
He was due to be released on Dec. 29.
Keewatin was found to have violated the conditions of that absence when he checked in Thursday with the Saskatoon Community Training Residence.
A Ministry of Justice press release said Keewatin escaped from custody as staff were in the process of bringing him back to jail.
Keewatin is described as five feet, 10 inches tall and weighing 170 pounds. He has brown eyes and black hair, with a scar visible above his right eye.
Anyone with information on Keewatin’s whereabouts is asked to contact police.
Keewatin is not considered a danger to the public.
