I always thought it would be nice to see the CFL season wrap up around Halloween.
The topic of starting the Canadian Football League season sooner has recently gained some traction.
Last month, commissioner Randy Ambrosie said he would be all for staging the Grey Cup at a warmer
time of year, but also said it wasn’t totally up to him.
The affluent Saskatchewan Roughriders have said they would be open to moving the season up. There is always a risk of bone-chilling temperatures and cold winds on the Prairies in late November.
The way I see it, the biggest vote may come from Bell, which owns TSN. Bell has been a generous contributor to the Canadian Football League with rights fees and with their stake in the Toronto Argonauts.
I would think it would be in the league’s best interests to ensure any schedule adjustments work with with the CFL’s national television carrier.
