A holiday tradition will be riding the rails into Saskatoon Monday.
The CP Holiday Train will return to the city Monday evening at 8:35 p.m.
The festive freight train will be bringing the tunes with it, as the Saskatoon stop features performances by Colin James and Emma-Lee.
The train will stop on the CP Rail overpass at 7th Avenue North and 33rd Street. The performances will all be south-facing, so the best views will be on the south side of the bridge.
People are encouraged to bring donations for the Saskatoon Food Bank and Learning Centre.
Food bank staff and volunteers will be in the Affinity Campus parking lot at the corner of 7th Avenue and Duchess Street accepting donations of food and cash. Pre-packaged Sobeys donation bags will be available for $5.
CP is also running a Capture the Spirit photo contest for a potential trip for four on next year’s Holiday Train as well as a $1,000 donation to their local food bank.
Saskatoon police will be setting up road closures and parking restrictions starting at 7 p.m. Monday to accommodate the event.
- As of 7 p.m., 33rd Street will be closed between 6th Avenue and 10th Avenue
- 7th Avenue will be closed between Empress Street and Duchess Street.
- Warburton Street between 7th Avenue & 10th Avenue
- Side streets and alleys that connect to those roadways will also be closed.
Those heading to the event should plan to park outside the immediate area of the concert. Residential streets around the event site will have temporary no parking signs in place.
