Saskatoon drivers were urged to take care Wednesday morning as freezing rain caused slick conditions on a number of city roads.
City of Saskatoon crews were out early Wednesday salting major routes, including Circle Drive and Idylwyld Drive. Drivers were asked to be on the lookout for flashing blue and amber lights and to keep about two-and-a-half car lengths between their vehicles and city equipment.
A city media release also asked people to report icy locations to the customer service centre at 306-975-2476.
Several stretches of icy highway were also reported around Saskatoon and throughout Central Saskatchewan.
The province’s Highway Hotline noted slippery sections on every route out of Saskatoon as of 7:30 a.m.
Travel Not Recommended advisories were also issued early Wednesday morning for highways heading south and west out of Wilkie, Sask.
Drivers planning to travel on the highways can check the Highway Hotline website for the latest on conditions.
