They may be small, but they set their sights big — scoring a chance to represent Saskatchewan in the nation’s capital.
The Saskatoon peewee Comet Storm will have the province behind them at the Canada 150 Hockey on the Hill tournament.
After creating a video submission, the girls hockey team were selected to play in Ottawa in late December.
At least one of their games will be on the Canada 150 rink now set up right in front of Parliament Hill. The team is guaranteed to play a minimum of three games.
The Ottawa International Hockey Festival invited eligible boys and girls peewee house league teams from across the country to enter to win the chance to represent their region at this year’s Bell Capital Cup hockey tournament in a special Canada 150 Division.
The Canada 150 Division features a 16-team peewee boys’ house league division and a 16-team peewee girls’ house league division.
The Comets, along with other selected teams, receive round-trip travel to and from Ottawa via economy air fare, or charter bus service, for each player and team official listed on the team’s Hockey Canada roster.
Accommodations and transportation while in Ottawa-Gatineau is also covered.
The team also goes home with a commemorative set of Canada 150-OIHF jerseys.
