Dense fog greeted parts of central Saskatchewan Sunday morning.
Environment Canada issued a fog advisory for the Saskatoon area due to near zero visibility conditions.
Meterologist Mike McDonald said the heaviest fog is along Highway 16 between Saskatoon and the Alberta border.
“We’ve seen visibilities almost near zero, especially in the Saskatoon area. Visibilities is quite low also in the North Battleford area. They’ve been less than one kilometer most of the night.”
Matthew Lotzien experienced the thick fog early Sunday traveling from Edmonton to Lanigan on Highway 16. “You could barely see 10-feet in front of you.”
McDonald said light winds and low level moisture trapped near the surface is leading to fog formation.
The fog is expected to lift by Sunday afternoon, but will return overnight and persist into Monday morning.
