Is it even winter without wind chill?
Saskatoon received its first taste of frosty wind Tuesday morning, when Environment Canada issued wind chill factors up to 10 degrees Celsius cooler than the current temperature.
The conditions served up a reminder for children heading out on the playground for recess.
In Saskatoon, kids were asked to dress for the weather before going to school.
According to the Saskatoon Public Schools severe weather guide, students are sent out for recess until the temperature or wind chill value hits -27 C.
With a wind chill between -20 C and -26 C, the guide asks kids dress in warm clothes.
In that temperature range students are also allowed to warm up in boot rooms if they need.
Looking ahead at the upcoming week, Saskatoon is forecasted to see highs of -12 C Wednesday, -11 C Thursday and -4 C Friday.
Over the weekend Environment Canada is calling for -8 C on Remembrance Day Saturday, up to a high of 0 C Sunday and into the plus-temperatures with a 4 C high Monday.
