Health Canada is recalling around 61,000 dishwashers due to a potential fire hazard caused by overheated power cords.
The recall involves power cords supplied with certain Bosch, Thermador, Gaggenau, Kenmore and Jenn-Air brand dishwashers manufactured from September 2012 through January 2015.
Health Canada says there have been five fires related to the power cords in the United States.
There have been no cases of property damage in Canada, and no injuries reported in either country.
The affected products were sold from January 2013 to May 2015 in Canada at appliance and specialty retailers, department stores, authorized builder distributors, home improvement stores nationwide as well as online.
Model and serial numbers are printed inside the dishwasher – either on the top of the inner door panel or on the right side of the panel.
The dishwashers are cUL certified with file number E103022.
People should immediately stop using an affected dishwasher and contact the Safety Recall Hotline at 1-888-965-5813 for a free inspection and repair.
