C95 Radio Marathon raises funds for breast cancer research

Saskatoon radio station C95 is once again raising funds to help further breast cancer research in Saskatchewan.

C95’s radio marathon for breast cancer research is live at The Centre Mall on Friday.

All donations will go to the Saskatchewan Cancer Agency.

Canadian country singer Brett Kissel spoke to C95’s Shauna Foster about his family’s experience after his mother was diagnosed with the disease.

“It’s a very negative time, it’s a negative disease, there’s so much uncertainty,” Kissel said.

Kissel said it can be difficult to know what to say to someone following a diagnosis.

“The best thing anybody can do is surround themselves with positive people,” Kissel said. “People that can make you laugh, go out for some nice dinners and start crossing off some things on your list that you’ve always wanted to do cause the time is now.”

Kissel’s hit song with Carolyn Dawn Johnson I Didn’t Fall In Love With Your Hair is about a woman dealing with the disease.

The C95 Radio Marathon runs from 6 a.m. until 6 p.m.

Proceeds help further research towards new treatments for breast cancer patients.

Last year the event raised $260,021.
