It’s not exactly the back-to-school welcome University of Saskatchewan students were expecting.
Earlier this month, pictures and videos were posted to the Facebook group USask Confessions showing an unidentified insect crawling around on the fourth floor of the Murray Building.
A university spokeswoman said the bug shown in the video was later confirmed to be a winter tick.
A student reported it to library staff and, as a precaution, the university said a pest control company was called in to do an inspection and treatment.
The team found no evidence of an infestation.
The U of S said the school is safe for students and they will continue to monitor the area daily over the next couple of weeks.
A post on Facebook claimed bed bugs were found in the library. The school confirmed, after an in-depth inspection, bed begs were not found.
