Saskatoon police have released dashcam footage of two officers capturing a large red-tailed boa constrictor over the weekend.
Police were called to 8th Street near Zimmerman Road Sunday evening, where there were reports of a large snake on the road.
The video posted on social media shows two officers using a stick and police riot shield to position the non-poisonous snake before grabbing it and carrying it to their cruiser.
“Do you happen to have a bucket or a pillowcase or a bag, anything we can utilize?” one of the officers asks a nearby motorist off-screen.
“Holy, it’s enormous,” the driver responds.
“Yeah, think about how we feel,” the officer says.
Police captioned the video on social media by saying, “Just call us ‘snake whisperers.'”
After the boa was captured, it was taken to the University of Saskatchewan’s Western College of Veterinary Medicine and then to an exotic animal rescue in Colonsay.
It’s still unclear who the owner of the snake was, and if they will face penalties for possessing a constrictor in Saskatchewan.
