"All I've wanted since we won in 2020 was to be back here hoisting that cup again," said Justin Ball.
Saskatoon police are now investigating the city’s third homicide of the year, after a man died of gunshot wounds Thursday.
Police said in a release the 27-year-old man was shot in the stomach on July 22 in a home on 33rd Street near Avenue W, and succumbed late Thursday morning.
The victim’s name isn’t being released by police at this time.
At the time of the shooting, officers said they were looking for a black Nissan Titan truck with a black bumper, which left the alleyway behind the home with three men inside.
Police said Thursday the suspect and victim are “unknown to each other.”
Anyone with information on the homicide is asked to contact police at 306-975-8300 or Crime Stoppers.
