Saskatoon police have a 26-year-old man in custody following an hours long stand off Sunday morning.
In a media release, police said they received a call around 3:30 a.m. that a man was being held against his will in a home on the 800 block of 33rd Street West.
After victim escaped safely the suspect barricaded himself inside for around five hours.
Saskatoon police tactical members, crisis negotiators and patrol officers tried to convince him to leave.
Finally, just after 9 a.m. he came outside and was arrested.
The 26 year old is charged with assault, unlawful confinement, and weapon charges are pending.
Traffic restrictions in place during the incident were lifted around 9:15 a.m.
