The latest scoop on the best ice cream shops in Canada is that one of them is located in Saskatoon.
Homestead Ice Cream was ranked in the top 15 across the country in a list published by Yellow Pages.
“I was like, ‘ok, this is happening, cool’,” store owner Allen Malberg said, after hearing the news when 650 CKOM called for a comment on the recognition.
“This is the first time (we’ve) been on something like this, it’s interesting with the Yellow Pages having reviews.”
Stores were scored based on quality, uniqueness, ambiance of the shop and the value for the price.

Homestead has been serving ice cream in Saskatoon since 1978, with their products made in small batches on site.
With the abnormally hot summer in the city, over 4000 customers have been stopping in to cool down on the weekends.
“That’s normal,” Malberg said.”It gets busy around one or two in the afternoon and picks up after supper.”
Homestead was the only location in Saskatchewan to make the Yellow Pages list.
