A five-vehicle crash on the Circle Drive North Bridge made a lot of people late for work Tuesday morning.
Many people blamed a recliner sitting in the middle of the road for causing the headache during the morning rush hour.
Wayne Sundby spoke to 650 CKOM after witnessing vehicles swerve to miss the errant piece of furniture just prior to the crash at 7:30 a.m.
“It was already run over at least once. It was pretty flat,” he said.
Despite the odd-looking road block, Saskatoon police said no furniture was involved in the crash.
Their investigation revealed a vehicle changed lanes, causing other vehicles behind it to brake hard resulting in a chain reaction.
Westbound traffic was gridlocked for more than an hour with backups stretching as far as Taylor Street.
No one was injured and no tickets were issued.
The recliner ended up in a scrap metal yard.
