The topic of closed practices by CFL teams comes to the surface every so often, and it has again this week in the lead up to Saturday’s Riders and Stampedes clash at McMahon Stadium.
While Calgary has not closed practices, they do want to know who is watching. Coach Dave Dickenson warned of “green spies” that lurk.
Chris Jones of the Riders is of the mind Hamilton was privy to some information that helped the Ti-Cats prepare for a punt block back on July 8.
Going forward, the Riders will close one practice per week.
Closing practices can anger fans. However, lost in all of this, was some terrific perspective from Jones when talking about “Rider Priders.”
“They love it here, and for them not to be able to come out in the summer time wouldn’t be the right thing to do,” he said.
This serves as confirmation that the man in charge of the Green and White understands he has to be accountable to the teams’ biggest shareholders.
