Successful opening weekend for Sask. Jazz Festival

The SaskTel Saskatchewan Jazz Festival got a taste of country Sunday night.

Canadian country music star Brett Kissel hit the stage, singing hits like Airwaves and I Didn’t Fall in Love with Your Hair.

Kissel also gave fans preview of a new track: We Were That Song, which he wrote and produced in Saskatoon.

“Saskatoon you get the first taste of my new song that I produced right here in your city,” Kissel said.

The new song is being released to Canadian radio stations on Monday.

Jazz Festival artistic director Kevin Tobin said over 7000 people made their way to the mainstage over the opening weekend.

Tobin went on to say over 18,000 people checked out all the different venues over the weekend.

The next big act on the mainstage is Walk off the Earth performing a sold-out show on Tuesday night at 9:30 p.m.
