A Saskatoon woman is blown away by the help of her neighbours during May long weekend, after coming home to a new back yard.
Linda Gubbe is in her 60’s and has Multiple sclerosis, it limits the amount of yard work she can do at her Wildwood Estates home.
“My backyard was pretty messy, so to come home to this was super emotional,” she said.
Gubbe was in Langham over the weekend looking after her son’s dog, neighbour Kami Hnatiuk was asked to babysit Gubbe’s cats.
But Hnatiuk decided to help out even further and recruited some neighbours and her family to pull weeds and clean up the landscaping.
“I took advantage of the situation to make her backyard beautiful,” Hnatiuk said. “She fund raises lots for Saskatoon animals, so I wanted to help her out because she’s going through a tough time.”
Gubbe said work still needs to be done.
“I’m hoping to grow some grass and plant some nice flowers soon,” she said.
“It’s nice to know there are good people still out there and I have the best neighbours.”
