If the excitement of a Taco Bell wasn’t enough, Saskatoon is set to enjoy another major food chain this summer.
Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen is coming to the Bridge City, opening up its first location in Kensington.
Ben Pietila, owner of Charged Electric Inc., posted about the project on his business’ Facebook page last Thursday.
The Saskatoon electrician said he’s excited about the opportunity, adding he’s received numerous messages from people eager to see the restaurant open.
He told 650 CKOM construction is set to get underway this week, with plans to open as early as July.
The chain is known for its spicy Louisiana-style fried chicken and has more than 25,000 locations in the U.S. and 25 other countries.
In February, Canadian fast food company Restaurant Brands International – which owns Tim Hortons and Burger King – agreed to buy the fried-chicken chain for $1.8 billion.
