A fire in Silverspring tore through one home, spread next door and forced an evacuation early Friday morning.
Around 1:45 a.m. firefighters were called to 1014 Carr Crescent and found a home engulfed in flames, with the fire stretching to the house beside it.
Because of the strong wind, five homes to the east and one to the west were evacuated as a precaution.
By about 2:30 a.m. the blaze was brought under control
An investigation has determined the fire started in the garage and caused an estimated $525,000 in damage.
Witnesses are expected to be interviewed over the weekend.
No one was injured.
