Previously, WHL players were declared ineligible to play NCAA hockey in the U.S.
Sunday morning proved busy for Saskatoon police with four armed robberies in about an hour.
It started at 12:11 a.m. when officers were called to a business on the 400 block of Kenderdine Road.
A man described as Indigenous, between 25 and 30 years old with a slim build and wearing dark clothing went into the business with a knife and demanded cash.
He left empty handed when customers came in.
At 12:34 a.m. police responded to an establishment on the 700 block of Central Avenue where a man demanded cash with what looked like a shard of glass or a broken mirror.
When the clerk refused and the man ran and was last seen going west on 108th Street.
The suspect is described as Caucasian in his early 20’s with a slim build and glasses.
Next, a business on the 1300 block of 8th Street East was targeted by a suspect police describe as an Indigenous man wearing all black and covering his face with a purple bandana.
It happened at 1:16 a.m and again the suspect ran without getting anything.
The last incident was reported at the same time, 1:16 a.m. Two people walking on Main Street near Wiggins Avenue were approached by two men and sprayed with pepper spray when they tried to take the woman’s purse.
Both men ran eastbound. They’re described as Indigenous, wearing dark clothing and one was wearing a toque.
According to police canine teams were taken to all the scenes, but were not successful tracking down any of the suspects.
Aside from temporary effects from the pepper spray, there were no injuries in any of the incidents, and no property or cash was taken.
