Spotting a stolen SUV early Sunday morning near 18th Street West and Avenue R set off a high-speed police chase.
Around 2:40 a.m. a K9 unit officer attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver refused to pull over.
According to police, the driver of the SUV started speeding so the air support unit was called in to assist.
While air support followed the vehicle officers on the ground put out a tire deflation device, which failed.
Eventually, the man driving abandoned the SUV and ran.
Air support gave ground units directions to find him and a 40-year-old man was arrested in connection.
He has been charged with failing to stop for police, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, driving while prohibited and possession of stolen property valued over $5,000.
The man is set to appear before a Justice of the Peace Sunday.
