Jamie Nye: At least training camp will be fun

Let’s look on the bright side of the Darian Durant trade.

The next five months are going to be fun until Chris Jones actually has to announce his starter in game one of the season.

The four quarterbacks under contract right now are Brandon Bridge — who seems to be the fan favourite. Maybe because he’s Canadian., maybe because he’s the most recognizable name. Jake Waters — who the team is very high on. GJ Kinne — who, outside the fact he knows Bo Levi Mitchell, doesn’t elicit much reaction and Bryan Bennett — who…. well… not many even know the Riders signed him over a month ago.

Oh and there is definitely more to come. Chris Jones proved one thing last year and that he’ll be true to his word. No stone will be left unturned. He’ll have another couple dozen camps with QBs on the radar. He brought in almost a dozen last year. Should we expect a dozen more?

Come training camp, however, it is going to be every quarterback for themselves in the fight to replace Darian Durant. Making this the biggest and most important training camp since Durant won the job in 2009.
